Venice, 12 July 2011: Made in blown glass, the lamp was produced in two sizes with the name of Tiki 52 and 33, indicating his centimeters in height.
A few months ago was offered to the artist Luca Moretto to make a contribution to that so essential object of design.
A little bit “crazy” request by the owner, since the Tiki is considered a collector's item due to its rarity. The client, impressed by the works on canvas, the use of silicone and interpretations that this young artist gives to his creations, has decided that this unique lamp needed the color and the vibrancy of the unusual playfulness material that allows the works of Luca Moretto to be not only seen, but touched and lived in their three-dimensionality too.
Moretto has accepted a new challenge as he did with the Vespa, which later became. Vespa Venice, which today is admired by about 50,000 visitors a year at the Piaggio museum, even knowing to struggle with the so-called purists; but if the art is also renew through an eclectic communication and an intellectual contribution, why not rely on expert and professional hands of a real artist?
In this way Moretto has been able to evaluate the gestures and the color tones to give new life to the lamp Tiki of Leucos.
Black essential lines, color hues deeply studied in order to emphasize the shape and to not bother the eye, the perfect combination of silicone and color, both sweetness and delicacy in the pose of this object make it a contemporary icon.
Every time that the artist does his job, he feels something inside him is maturing and so are his works, although they keep that thread that is the imagination and vision.
“My greatest satisfaction” - the artist says - "is to give back to clients a work that they wanted to be revisited in my own way, but especially is the surprise in the eyes of spectators: a priceless reward. That smile of wonder repays for every hour spent in studying and realizing that work."
"The idea is to bring my work to common people, to the mass, even those people that never have been interested in art. In fact, the eccentricity of my works provokes curiosity that turns immediately in smile, joy and "new" emotion. Emotion due to color effect and touchable materials; matter and imagination, in fact, are nothing more than a touch of eclectic fusion of imagination and real life."
On the other hand, excite the viewer and communicate positive feelings is the goal of Luca Moretto that has always worked with flair and precision, like a craftsman he is primary and scrupulous, he looks at the masters with humility but looking forward to the future.
For Moretto, like any artist, the most beautiful work is still to do!
And we look forward to every work that comes, make sure that the artist continues to amaze and intrigue the viewer with grace and imagination.
