“VESPA AND CINEMA” - November 9 / 20, 2016
Inauguration: Wednesday 9 November 2016 at 18h00
Event sponsored by the Italian Institute of Culture in St. Petersburg with Lenfilm, in collaboration with Piaggio Foundation and "Centro Multimediale del Cinema".
“Vespa and Cinema” is a collaboration with Piaggio Foundation and "Centro Multimediale del Cinema" to celebrate the history of the alliance between cinema and the most famous scooter in the world, which this year celebrates seventy years.
The exhibition is a tribute to the icon of design that has revolutionized mobility and lifestyle, not only with the technical innovation, but also on the artistic and aesthetic level. To represent the Italian creativity for this occasion three wonderful artistic Vespa models are exposed, provided by the Pontedera Piaggio Museum:
1) Vespa “Venice” a Vespa 50 of 1967 reinterpreted on Pop-Art by Luca Moretto.
Created in September of 2010, it was exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale and is exhibited at the Piaggio Museum since 2012.
2) Vespa GTS 300 created in 2010 by Ugo Nespolo;
3) Vespa “PX Dolce Vita Alcantara” created in 2015 by Paola Navone.
Riccardo Costagliola, chairman of Piaggio Foundation, writes: "the great success in Pontedera - where this exhibition opened for the first time at the Museo Piaggio in 2010 until February 2011 - has meant that today this exhibition becomes a sort of "traveling event" celebrated on the most authoritative cultural stages of the world: from Turin, on the occasion of the official celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, to Taormina and Cannes, until today even St. Petersburg."
The narrative of the exhibition, presented through the Italian Cultural Institute and the "Centro Studi Cinematografici Lenfilm", winds through the image exposure and projection of historical films in which the Vespa is the protagonist.
The first event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9 at 19h30 with the screening of Federico Fellini "La dolce vita" (1960) which will be followed:
– "Caro diario" directed by Nanni Moretti (1993) – 13 November at 19h30
